Module 13: Historical Aspects


Bündnis 90 / die Grünen

This module covers approximately the most recent four decades of the environmental and sustainability movements from political and social perspectives. Students are encouraged to discuss historical issues in light of present circumstances. In the essay students can compare legal, political, and social differences and similarities between the U.S. and Germany.

  2. Discussion (materials: read short chronology of the environmental movement; tasks: short answer writing and/or discussion questions for groups or plenary)
  3. Video (materials: listening link about history of the Green party; tasks: writing/group work task divides up content by decade)
  4. Listening (materials: listening link about globalization and the environment; tasks: comprehension questions for plenary discussion)
  5. Essay (materials: readings from informational sites related to environmental protection; tasks: suggested essay topics provided)
